Patricia Hearn - Event management teacher (food and beverage )
About me
Teaching in the Tourism and Hospitality section at Wollongong TAFE, I am specialising in the food and beverage subjects.
The “ foodie’s” world is forever changing, with new and exciting ways of preparing food and drinks, from around the world.
It would be impossible to keep up with these endless new products and marketing styles, with out the help from new technologies that are forever evolving.
By introducing these tools into the classroom, I would endeavour to create new challenges for students as they develop the knowledge, to assist them succeed in their chosen course.
Student have been recording their progress with the cameras on their mobile phones and communicating with email , blogs and share drives. This allows flexibility with in the class room which is so important to student that cannot always attend class due to work commitments.
This project, I feel will not only help create new and stimulating ways to pass on to students the knowledge, but also help the people working on it grow in their knowledge of IT and as this is passed on to our colleagues our department, will have a new out look on delivering technics.
